Donor Lists That Update Themselves: WinRed and Anedot Sync

A donor file is out of date the moment someone gives.

Most programs fix that with an export, a cleanup, and an upload. Then they do it again tomorrow.

On Political Comms, the list updates itself.

How It Works

Create a dynamic list. Paste its URL and secret into WinRed or Anedot. Done.

From that point on, every donation, subscription, and lead with a valid phone number lands on the list automatically. The next send goes to the donors you have now, not the donors you had at the last upload.

Agencies that receive scheduled donation reports can feed those instead. Reports combine into one list, or split into one list per committee.

Rules You Set Once

A list that changes on its own needs rules that hold without supervision. Each WinRed or Anedot webhook list carries three. Report feeds carry the uploader's consent attestation and the same refund and retention rules.

Consent. SMS opt-in required is on by default. Only donors who checked the SMS consent box join the list.

Refunds. With remove on refund on, a refunded gift or lost dispute takes the contact off the list. Off by default.

Retention. Set a rolling window of 30, 60, or 90 days, or your own. A donor who goes quiet leaves the list on schedule and returns the next time they give.

Why It Matters

Three things change when the donor list is current.

Recent donors get the next ask. The supporter who gave this morning is on tonight's send, not next week's.

Lapsed donors get a different program. Retention windows separate active donors from lapsed ones without a spreadsheet.

Nobody gets an ask they should not. The rules you set on a list apply to every new donor automatically.

Get Started

Dynamic lists are live for every organization. Set one up from the Dynamic Lists tab, or see the WinRed and Anedot integration pages for details.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do WinRed and Anedot donors get onto a text list?

Create a dynamic list in Political Comms, then paste its URL and secret into your WinRed or Anedot account. From then on, each donation, subscription, or lead with a valid phone number is added to the list automatically.

Are donors added without SMS consent?

Not by default. SMS opt-in required is on for every new list, so only donors who checked the SMS consent box are added. A committee that collects consent another way can turn it off.

What happens when a donation is refunded?

Turn on remove on refund and a refunded or lost-dispute gift removes the contact from the list. It is off by default, so a refund does not remove a supporter unless you choose that.

Can a list drop donors who have stopped giving?

Yes. Set a retention window of 30, 60, or 90 days, or a custom length. Donors with no activity inside the window leave the list automatically, and return the next time they give.
